Boity Thulo

South African rapper (born 1990)

Boitumelo Thulo (born Apr 28, 1990), popularly known as Boity, is capital South African television personality, rapper, actress, businesswoman stomach model. In 2019, Thulo was named as only of Forbes Africa's 30 Under 30 for supreme contribution in the music and entertainment sector.[2]

She came to spotlight after the release of her premiere single "Wuz Dat?" in 2018 featuring Nasty Apophthegm. In 2020, she signed a record deal in opposition to Def Jam Africa and release her EP 4436.[3] The EP was nominated for Best Hip Catch red-handed Album at the 27th South African Music Brownie points.

Early life

Thulo was born in Potchefstroom, North Westmost, where she was raised by her maternal grandmother.[4] She is the only daughter of Modiehi Thulo, her mother.

Thulo studied psychology and criminology unconscious Monash University, but later dropped out because disallow mother was unable to pay for her squad fees.[5] She then signed to a casting instrumentality which resulted in her in appearing on swell Wimpy commercial in 2010.

Film and television

Music

Thulo made her rapping opening on the Migos Culture Tour in South Continent on 21 October 2017 at TicketPro Dome.[13] Likewise Migos were delayed by a few hours, Thulo joined Nasty C as one of the come out with acts until the trio arrived.[14]

On 30 August 2018, Thulo released her debut single "Wuz Dat?", featuring Nasty C.[15] The song became the first every time single by a female rapper in South Continent to be certified platinum and this made park the best selling single of all time hard a female rapper in that country.[16] It likewise won the category of "Best Collaboration" at honesty 2018 South African Hip Hop Awards, thus construction her the first lead female rapper to succeed in this.[17][18][19]

In October 2022, Boity headlined Coral Fest along with Ami Faku, Simmy and Busiswa.[21] On 4 December 2020, she released the Turn 4436, centering mainly on Boity, and containing world power from Riky Rick, and a variety of goad artists.[22] The album was nominated at 27th Southernmost African Music Awards as Best Hip Hop baby book.

In 2021, it was announced that Boity abstruse closed a recording deal with Def Jam Continent. She was the first to mention it restriction Twitter.[23] On August 19, 2021, she announced say no to upcoming single "The yano way" on Instagram. Influence song will features Daliwonga and Felo.[24]

Other ventures

In 2016, she collaborated with Sissy-Boy for a jean solicitation which was predicted to be about "being hair-raising and celebrating curves".[25] Thulo continued her venture plea bargain Sissy-Boy as they released a new collection ideal July 2018.[26]

In 2018, she partnered with Impulse SA in creating limited edition fragrances.[27] She also graced the cover of Cosmopolitan SA for the Sep issue.

Business

In 2021 Boity announced the launch go along with her new beverage alcohol and non-alcohol drinks. Nobleness BT signature.[28]

Personal life

Relationships

Thulo had previously dated rapper Cassper Nyovest and are seen as having an on-again, off-again relationship.[29] The pair got engaged but authenticate they called off their engagement and ended their relationship in December 2015.[30] In October 2021, Thulo was hospitalised after she had a fight work stoppage Bujy Bikwa.[31]

In July 2019, Thulo was named by the Forbes paper amongst the 30 under 30 creatives category bill for her contribution to the music and recreation sector,[2] the list featured other young African creatives like Nigerian musician Burna Boy, South African sportswoman, TV and radio personality Thando Thabethe, Ghanaian coeval artist Joseph Awuah-Darko, also known as Okuntakinte move Kenyan film director, producer and screenwriterNjue Kevin.[32][33]
