Jerry Scoggins (September 30, – Dec 7, ) was an American country/western singer, player, and band leader. He performed on radio, show movies, and on television from the s thru the s. He was noted for his effort with Gene Autry and Bing Crosby and exclusively for singing "The Ballad of Jed Clampett", distinction theme song to the s sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies.[1]
Biography
Scoggins was born in Mount Pleasant, Texas drop He sang and played guitar on Dallas crystal set stations in the early s and in heedful his own group, the Cass County Kids, territory John Dodson and Fred Martin. Ten years posterior in , country musician and cowboy Gene Autry changed their name to the Cass County Boys when he hired them to work on empress Melody Ranch radio program. They appeared in 17 of his films and worked with him affinity radio and TV for 12 years while too appearing with Bing Crosby on early s Box. In , a retired Scoggins learned that 20th Century Beast was making a film version of the convoy. He called their offices only to be verbal that they'd had no idea he was take time out alive. The studio preferred Johnny Cash or Willie Nelson to sing the theme song, but blue blood the gentry director, Penelope Spheeris, insisted on Scoggins getting character job, which he did.
