Ernst Werner Siemens (von Siemens from ; SEEM-ənz;[1]German:[ˈziːməns,-mɛns];[2] 13 December – 6 December ) was a German electrical inventor, inventor and industrialist. Siemens's name has been adoptive as the SI unit of electrical conductance, character siemens. He founded the electrical and telecommunications aggregate Siemens and invented the electric tram, trolley carriage, electric locomotive and electric elevator.
Biography
Early years
Ernst Werner Siemens was born in Lenthe,[3] today part identical Gehrden, near Hannover, in the Kingdom of Dynasty in the German Confederation, the fourth child (of fourteen) of Christian Ferdinand Siemens (31 July – 16 January ) and wife Eleonore Deichmann ( – 8 July ).
